01

Keep the source honest

Original captures, without saturation or simulated lighting.

Surface DNA

Flat face · layer lines · curved dome · thin window · embossed detail.

Drag to inspect enlarged images. Zoom and pan stay synchronized across the observation and comparison views.

03 / COLOR DOPPELGÄNGER

Similar colors. Different stories.

Compare two specimens under the same capture condition. A visual reference, not a color measurement.

The observation chamber lighting and zoom controls apply to both specimens.

04 / PALETTE COMPOSER

A palette, made from your collection.

Select up to five specimens using “Add to palette”. Colors use your manually entered display HEX values.

01 / CAPTURE

Keep the light consistent

Use the same neutral background, camera distance and exposure for every specimen. Record the light source and white balance. A gray card helps document the setup; it does not turn an ordinary photograph into measured color.

02 / SURFACE

One material, five surfaces

Observe a flat face, visible layer lines, a curved dome, a thin window and embossed detail. Photograph the actual swatch at multiple angles. Compare like surfaces before drawing conclusions about matte, silk or translucent finishes.

03 / RECIPE

Record what made the color

Note material, batch, printer, nozzle, temperatures, layer height and speed. These are records of your print, not universal settings. Use the filament manufacturer’s instructions and your printer’s supported range for new jobs.

Questions from the workbench

Are the example specimens real products?

No. All starter specimens are labeled illustrations with a fictional “Atlas Studio” brand. Upload photographs of your own prints to create a real archive.

Does lighting mode simulate a different light?

Lighting buttons switch between separately uploaded photos. No color filters are applied. Missing captures are clearly marked.

Can I measure ΔE or a true color match here?

No. A display HEX value and a photograph are only visual references. Accurate color difference requires calibrated measurement equipment, documented conditions and an appropriate color model.

Where are my photographs stored?

In IndexedDB on this browser and origin. They are not uploaded to a public gallery. Clearing site data, using another browser or device, or storage eviction can remove access. Export a JSON backup including photos regularly.
